How to write a diary online

Same process as paper: open it, write what's on your mind, close it.

Writing a diary online just means using an app or website instead of a notebook. The content is the same – your thoughts, your day, whatever you want to put down. The digital part adds convenience: it syncs across devices, you can search past entries, and it's harder to lose.

What to write

Whatever's on your mind. There's no right answer:

When to write

Pick a time that works for you – morning to set intentions, or evening to reflect on the day. Consistency matters more than duration. Even a few sentences counts.

Where to write

Dedicated journal apps (Day One, Journey, OhDiary) have the best privacy features. Note apps work too. Use whatever you'll actually open consistently.

Photos and other media

Most apps let you add images. Sometimes a photo captures the moment better than words. But text-only is completely fine – don't feel obligated to make entries elaborate.

The habit is what matters, not the tool or format. Start simple and adjust as you go.
